In 1972, the Alton Junior Youth Symphony was established as a natural outgrowth of the AYS mission.  Serving children in grades 3-5, the Junior Symphony gives elementary student musicians a wonderful opportunity to play in a formal--but tun-- string orchestra setting!  Musical selections range from classical to contemporary pieces, all chosen to help early musicians develop their talents and abilities.  As with AYS,  AJYS does not charge membership fees.

The Alton Junior Youth Symphony rehearses only in the spring season and participates in the annual spring concert.
